In re Rockford Gastroenterology Associates, Ltd. Data Breach Litigation

On January 3, 2025, Judge Lisa Fabiano of the Circuit Court of the 17th Judicial Circuit in Winnebago County, Illinois, consolidated seven pending class action lawsuits against Rockford Gastroenterology Associates, Ltd. By the consolidated proceeding In re Rockford Gastroenterology Associates, Ltd. Data Breach Litigation, plaintiffs allege that Rockford Gastroenterology failed to adequately protect highly sensitive private information including, but not limited to, the Social Security numbers of more than 147,253 patients, which were accessed by unauthorized threat actors.

Judge Fabiano also appointed David S. Almeida of Almeida Law Group LLC, Raina Borrelli of Strauss Borrelli PLLC, Gary M. Klinger of Milberg Coleman Bryson Phillips Grossman, Nickolas Hagman of Cafferty Clobes Meriwether & Sprengel LLP, and Brett Cohen of Leeds Brown Law P.C. as Interim Co-Lead Class Counsel. As Court-appointed representatives for plaintiffs and the putative class, Interim Co-Lead Counsel will be responsible for managing all aspects of the litigation, including pretrial discovery, settlement negotiations, trial proceedings, and any post-trial matters. Interim Co-Lead Counsel will file a consolidated complaint by February 3, 2025.
