EDUCATION
Matthew earned his Bachelor of Arts in English and Sociology from the University of Connecticut, and his Juris Doctor from Columbia Law School, where he was a Harlan Fiske Scholar.
Matthew is admitted to practice in several states, including Illinois, Florida, California, and New York.
Matthew Langley
Matthew is a trial lawyer and litigator who brings his skills and experience developed over the years as a federal prosecutor and defense attorney to bear fighting for the rights of individuals harmed by unfair or deceptive practices. Before joining Almeida Law Group, Matthew was a partner at Benesch, Friedlander, Coplan and Aronoff LLP where he worked alongside David in the firm’s Class Action practice group and on the two-billion-dollar defamation suit involving election fraud claims. Prior to joining Benesch, Matthew was a securities class action attorney at Robbins Geller where he investigated and helped bring securities fraud cases on behalf of shareholders.
Matthew has been involved in dozens of class action lawsuits including data breach and privacy violations, state consumer fraud and deceptive business practices, false advertising and false labeling, the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), and Illinois’ Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA).
Before attending law school, Matthew was a high school teacher at Plantation High School in Broward County, Florida where he taught English to freshmen and juniors. After graduating from Columbia Law School, Matt worked in New York City at Kirkland and Ellis LLP before moving with his wife to Miami, Florida, where he joined the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida. As an Assistant United States Attorney, Matthew worked in the Economic Crimes Division and prosecuted crimes involving health care fraud, tax fraud, money laundering, identity theft, bank fraud, child pornography, and drug trafficking. He first-chaired ten jury trials, securing guilty verdicts in all ten trials.
Matthew is barred in New York, Florida, California, and Illinois.
