Karen is an experienced litigator who is skilled at investigating and prosecuting consumer fraud actions.  Prior to joining Almeida Law Group, Karen participated in a wide range of cases on behalf of the Federal Trade Commission for more than 15 years.  Representative matters include undisclosed recurring subscription fees, alternative education scams, unlawful debt collection, unauthorized billing, business coaching and job scams, deceptive marketing of a medical discount plan, and false advertising via affiliate marketers.  Before working at the Federal Trade Commission, Karen served as an Assistant Attorney General in the Litigation Bureau of the New York State Office of the Attorney General, where she defended New York State, state agencies, and state officers in all stages of litigation, including trial.  Her cases as an Assistant Attorney General ranged from employment actions to alleged constitutional violations, including First Amendment claims.  Before entering public service, Karen was a litigation associate at Robins, Kaplan, Miller & Ciresi LLP in Boston.  She started her legal career at Milbank LLP in New York.

Karen is admitted to the state bars of New York and Massachusetts, the Southern District of New York, the Eastern District of New York, and the District of Massachusetts.
